Summary
Urianger deserved far better than Thancred could ever hope to give him. That was why he wouldn’t tell him—about the flowers, about his love. He’d breathe and bear every one of his sins and his mistakes and his lies, all for he who was too good, for he who was too pure—
(For blossoms were all Thancred would ever be.)

Summary
Leofard knew Caspian was plotting something: his smile gave it all away. Then again, when was Caspian not up to something—it was never a matter of how much Leofard could discern, but how much he was willing to indulge.
But oh, how Leofard loved to indulge.

Summary
Urianger deserved to thrive, thought Klein. Urianger deserved all of the love and success in the world, even if Klein wasn’t there to witness it.
That was the reason for the pain rending his chest, he knew. For unlike Urianger, Klein didn’t deserve the niceties of quaint cottages, of rose planters in the window or butter biscuits left on the doorstep—not after what he had done.

“’Tis a most foolhardy course of action! What if—what if we are heard? What if—our hero—”
“Focus less on your woes and more on keeping your voice low. Let me get you out of your head—and if you still aren’t exhausted enough to sleep after I’m done with you, I will simply have to try again. Now,”—Thancred pressed a wet kiss to Urianger’s neck—“do you think you can be quiet for me, love?”

Summary
“I beg thee for further decadence,” Urianger gasped. “I beg thee for want sated, and for love everlasting, for love fulfilling—and love further still, ’til all save our union is lost to the murk and the mire….”
“You speak as if you’re the one in heat,” said Jack, a smile curling on his lips.

Summary
Thancred would’ve liked to think that he had an impressive virility. He used to, at least—nearly any woman in Ul’dah could attest to that—though he didn’t think the years weighing heavy on his bones had affected him that badly.
No, his virility wasn’t the problem: it was his partners’, and their heats.

Summary
“Pray open thine eyes, Thancred. Thy journey shall not end hither.”
Thancred did. The brilliance of light above silhouetted a form long and lithe. His jewels gleamed. His horns bowed. A single tear seeped from his bright, bright eyes, darkening the tawny fur on his cheek.
“Pray,” Urianger said, “do not leave me.”
Thancred’s tail struggled to thump beneath him as one single thought crossed his mind: How have I never noticed how gorgeous you are?

Summary
Urianger’s lips settled into a deep, pensive frown. “A caricature constructed from memory,” he murmured. “Most intriguing indeed….”
“’Twould be I who ought to remark that of thee.”

Summary
“’Tis merely a theory. I am but a shade, after all—of that, I still know. I only seek to offer you an opportunity,” said Hythlodaeus.
“Opportunity?”
“To learn, if you’d like. About Azem. About us.”

Summary
“A malicious dread doth smolder in my heart, and try as I might to smother its smoke, I find that it burneth yet. ’Tis a feeling rooted not in logic, but in fear most feeble, and I—I have not a single excuse. I dared not utter its name ’til now, though its face hath been bared to me for many a darkened moon: ’tis that of doubt, unquestionably.”
“Doubt?” W’htal echoed. “What have you to doubt?”
“Doubt as to my place hither beside thee—betwixt thee and Thancred both.”

Summary
Eira’s shoulders slumped, and she breathed in a strangled gasp. “Then prove it,” she said. “Silence the last of my bitter doubts, and—and prove to me that you still love me as deeply as I love you.”
The final syllable was barely out of her mouth before Urianger kissed her.

Summary
“I implore thee,” Urianger said, frowning, “to refrain from calling them trysts.”
Thancred licked his lips. What else would he call this? Lovemaking? He hadn’t the courage to ask. He wasn’t ready for the inevitable draw of Urianger’s brow and the distance he would put between them if they decided to give whatever this was a name—for naming it would inspire them to think about it, and thinking, of course, would lead to the obvious, unwanted conclusion.

Summary
“I hesitate to ask how alchemy relates to my excellent sex life,” Thancred said as he crossed his arms.
“Haven’t you ever sought out an alchemist for decadent draughts? I thought you more adventurous than that.”
“Of course I have, but if you were aware of the root of the issue—not that there is an issue—you would know that the problem isn’t with me, but with Urianger and his… that-which-is-not-to-be-spoken-in-polite-company.”
“Chaleur,” said the Warrior of Light.

Summary
Apollo bounced the child up and down in his arms, trying to soothe her into a quick slumber. What was he supposed to do? He had no idea how to watch a kid! The penthouse was decidedly not baby-proofed, what with the teetering towers of paperwork and precariously mounted guitars, not to mention—
“Sonnenschein, my love, who was that at the—ach, what do you have?”
—The most un-baby-proofed person alive: his husband.

Summary
Apollo Justice, a down-on-his-luck, freshly-barred attorney, is far too busy with real responsibilities to worry about the upcoming Annual Los Angeles Legal Gala. He doesn’t care if the brightest legal minds and political celebrities are going to be in attendance, and despite his best friend Clay’s gushing, he certainly doesn't care about the two visiting princes from a minor European principality—even if one of them happens to be the world’s most famous rock-star prosecutor. Celebrities like that are always insufferable, and Apollo wouldn’t mind if they went ahead and croaked.

Summary
Helaine spoke in a rumble of a voice befitting a wolf rather than woman: “If I asked something of you then, my doe—a selfish and damnable ask—tell me, would you fulfil it?”
Estella swallowed; Helaine’s fingers brushed her bobbing throat, and despite her vulnerability, the woe of weakness, she did not feel frightened. “I would fulfil it,” said she.
“And would you do so as a servant, or as a woman?”
“As Estella,” said she; “For if you wished to harm me, then you would have already. So, tell me, my Lady: what is it you truly desire?”

Summary
He wondered how selfish he could let himself become. He could waive the responsibility of the world and live instead betwixt glamour and dream. He could be reborn anew, and all of his secrets would die with the name Augurelt.
Yet Urianger was shaped by his secrets—and thus did he tame his tongue and lie (and lie, and lie) about his love, until he could no longer remember the taste of the truth.

The Wright Anything Agency has earned itself an award for outstanding achievement, courtesy of one of the most renowned criminal attorney conferences in the country. Apollo has been tasked with accepting the award on everyone's behalf—problem is, the conference is in Chicago, and he doesn't have any means of getting there. Luckily for him, though, a certain prosecutor is more than happy to give him a ride.
