    Summary

Jon hadn’t anticipated just how quiet it would be at Daisy’s cottage. He definitely hadn’t anticipated how that quiet settles something inside of him, like balm on an injury he didn’t know he had. He’d thought the lack of human presence would make him more aware of the loss still sitting in the pit of his stomach, heavy and solid, but it’s … it’s nice to have the space to process things. To know that he’s currently alone by choice, not by happenstance, and that he has the freedom to just be. Jon lets the solitude envelop him like a weighted blanket, warm and comfortable and safe.

It’s a few days later when he first meets the man who pets the cows.

    .

Following the loss of his grandmother, Jon takes a sabbatical and moves up to northern Scotland to stay in Daisy's cabin and study the religious culture of the village near it. There, he meets Martin, his apparent and unwanted neighbor who makes odd jokes and seems to exist solely to ruin Jon's attempts at finally getting some peace and quiet. But as Jon spends more time with Martin, he begins to warm up to him and, as time goes on, to fall in love with him.

It just takes him a bit to realize that the man he's fallen in love with is a god.

“Hey freckles. To what do I owe the pleasure of–”

Martin’s voice crashed over the phones speaker, cutting Tim off in a whirlwind of blurry articulation. “Tim, thank god, I can’t find Jon and he isn’t answering and Jon always always picks up if I call him more than five times, I don’t know if he’s dead or–”

Tim pulled up short, hand moving instinctively to cover his ear and block out the London traffic. “Whoa, whoa Martin slow down.”

    Martin did not.

    -

As far as he knew, Tim had a pretty good idea of how the afternoon would play out - by no means did it involve one disappeared statement giver, a trip to the clinic, an impressive amount of secondhand pining and another one of those damn tapes.

aka: what if Martin and Tim found Jon directly after he was stabbed and connected said event to Helen Richardson's statement?

    Summary

“Elias?” Peter stood in the doorway, frowning at the sight before him. Elias Bouchard sitting cross-legged on the living room floor doing a jigsaw puzzle with, well... a child.

“Yes darling?” Elias had looked up from the puzzle, his eyes turning to his husband, a sharp smile on his lips. “Do come in, you’re letting the heat out.”

Peter walked in, closing the door behind him. “Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what is that?”

Elias grinned. “This is Martin, he lives with us now, which you would know if you bothered to check your emails dearest.” He turned his gaze to Martin. “Martin this is Peter, my husband.”

“Hi!” Martin waved one small, pudgy hand. “Wanna help us with the puzzle?”

“Yes, Peter,” Elias patted the floor beside himself. “Come help us with the puzzle.”
