“Stiles?”
It was so quiet in the loft, the only sound Derek could hear was Stiles muttering to himself under his breath. It all played out like a horror movie, tense and eerie. Derek didn’t like horror movies, he’d already seen too much in the real world.
“Stiles, what are you doing?” The closer he got to the table, to Stiles, the more he could smell him. Fear and terror overriding in copious amounts. It was more than what Stiles usually provided, and oddly so seeing as how he wasn’t hunched over and hyperventilating. He was simply sitting there, breath even, heart calmly beating away in his chest.
Derek reached out, placing a hand on Stiles’ shoulder. He tugged on him to get Stiles to turn around. At first it was as if Stiles was fighting back against his grip but then Stiles relented and let himself be pulled backward.
His eyes were open but he wasn’t looking at anything in particular. Derek waved a hand over his face and sighed when he realized the obvious.
“You’re sleepwalking.”

Summary
There was something about Beacon Hills. Once it hooked you, it didn't let go. Even all the way across the country, Stiles felt the hot breath on his neck, the claws in his back, trying to drag him back while whispering in his ear, "I'll always be here, you'll always belong to me."
Of course he had thought about staying, one time or another. But it was always that voice in the back of his head that made him spiral out further, push the length of the tether as taut as it could go. He could have a different life on the east coast. He could build something that would stick. He'd almost convinced himself of it, too. Unfortunately for him, there are some things you just can't ignore forever.
And if you bleed for Beacon Hills once, you can be sure you'll bleed for it again.

Summary
After the horrors of the Nogitsune, Stiles struggles to find his place among his friends. With Allison in the hospital, life slipping from her fragile form, Stiles can't face his own internal turmoil. But when the most unlikely person goes from acquaintance to friend, and from friend to something neither of them ever expected - involving a lot less clothing than he may ever have expected - Stiles might be able to begin finding himself again.
However, with Beacon Hills under threat from an unknown foe, Stiles has to put aside his fears and save his friends before he loses anyone else.Derek has become accustomed to life on his own. He has learnt how to cope with the loneliness and the silence. He knows he is better off this way. At least until Stiles becomes a useless wreck who needs his help and Derek realises he's too much of a pushover to resist saving him. But saving Stiles becomes a little more complicated when Derek's desire to help him soon turns into a need he cannot deny.
Stiles/Derek story. Allison is not dead but in a coma. Some angst but not too dark.

Derek tips his head towards the heavens, dragging a rough palm over his face. “So I'm on babysitting duty. You're putting me on babysitting duty.”
“I'm eighteen,” Stiles mumbles, scowling and petulant. Derek doesn't even look at him.
“The training of an emissary is integral to the pack bond,” Deaton retorts. “To many, it is sacred, the connection between Alpha and emissary. You should treat it as an honour, Alpha Hale.”
“Yeah, I feel real honoured,” Derek deadpans, sarcasm dripping from his dulcet tone. Deaton simply shakes his head with a sigh.

In which, post-3B, Derek doesn't get captured and instead travels. Finding himself faced with an Alpha Pack allied with a Witches' Coven on the hunt for the True Alpha, he returns to Beacon Hills to warn Scott of the threat. He's tasked with overseeing the new emissary's training, which just so happens to be Stiles. It's a test of patience for the both of them.
