“What happened?” Caitlyn asked, setting the lunch she had picked up for them on the nearest empty space on a workbench.
“It’s gone,” Jayce finally said, running a large hand through his close-cropped brown hair, golden eyes squeezing shut.
Caitlyn’s eyes snapped from the large windows that overlooked the city down the top of Jayce’s head, “What’s gone?”
Jayce sighed and gestured, pinching the bridge of his nose.
Caitlyn flicked her eyes to Viktor, since, apparently, her best friend was entirely unable to form actual words to tell her what had transpired.
