AU where EVERYBODY IS HAPPY because I am DELUSIONAL and UPSET because WDYM NO MORE TWICE? WHAT DO YOU MEAN TOGA IS DEAD? I BAWLED MY GODDAMN EYES OUT BRING BACK MY SILLIES
Ok, but in all seriousness, obligatory ‘everyone is happy nobody is dead all is right with the world’ AU. All angst and hurt shall be followed by FLUFF and COMFORT. Although, I do still need some trauma, so (most of) the base stuff stays in. But no dying and everyone gets a happy ending, and considering I understand narratively why the LOV had to die this is also one of those AUs where the LOV where never villains and rather heroes like most of them dreamed as kids. Although, Endeavor does need consequences for his actions so I’m putting the man through the divorce and he’s losing his child privileges.
Also, this will mostly go in timeline order. Sometimes I will go back for something or other but otherwise, timeline order.

I FORGOT A SUMMARY AHHHHH
Someone targeting the Commission isn’t anything new, with them being such a large pillar in society that promotes Heroes; occasionally, they have to replace the windows or lawn if an attack is bad enough. Maybe hire a few staff members to replace lower-ranking employees who did nothing but show up to work that day. A building can be rebuilt, new people hired, and money had never been an issue to the HPSC with all of the public support it gets. But this isn’t that, it isn’t just a matter of replacing some glass or buying new trees- the Commission is currently more like an active demolition zone than a proud government building.
This isn’t just a targeted attack, it's angry- furious even, a wrath proven right and twice as deadly for it. This attack is a message.

Summary
Izuku Midoriya is eight years old when the sludge villain comes for him, eight years old when his body finally answers in the way he's spent four years begging it to, eight years old when he learns that virtue has a price no one warns you about, particularly not the Hero Public Safety Commission, whose interest in the 'greater good' is terrifying.
The Commission loves children like Izuku, children whose quirks bloom strange and starving, children whose gifts require a certain kind of feeding.
Izuku is eight years old, and useful, and so terribly, terribly doomed.
Survival is the first violence we commit against ourselves and breath is both mercy and theft. This is the virtue no one acknowledges: that we are all dying magnificently and calling it living. That heroism is sometimes just the exhausted choice to continue. That glory is often just another word for aftermath.
Everything has a cost, and the world always collects.

Oh, how he wishes he could have chosen.
In a world where you're either overlooked or exploited for your quirk, Hawks would love nothing more than to be invisible. To disappear from the fame, from the eyes, from the responsibilities that he never asked for when his parents gave him away to the Commission, from the pain.
Though pain makes itself known eventually, whether you invite it to or not.
But really, sitting on the floor of the League of Villains, thinking like a child just to cope, was not how Hawks envisioned the pain showing up.
OR
A lil fic of mine about how the Commission really treated its best "heroes" and the coping mechanisms, good or bad, that one particular hero derived from it. Add in some projection, a bit of fluff between the hurt, and, suddenly, it's a fic.
