Summary
SHIELD Agent James Barnes is about as content with his lot in life as it's possible to be. A heck of a lot more content than he ever expected he could be, really. He has a team he trusts, and a decent handler. He has a sense of self. He has a therapist who knows better than to push him about his self-care routines, and a purpose in life that might not leave much time for socialising, but at least doesn't involve helping HYDRA take over the world against his will.
Trust Steve Rogers to come along and turn his life upside down for the second time.*
In other words, twenty years after Bucky Barnes escapes HYDRA's clutches, another frozen supersoldier is brought in from the cold.

Peggy Carter tries to hold the fraying threads of her work and personal life together as they threaten to unravel before her very eyes. Tony Stark rapidly approaches what might just be a point of no return in all his familial relationships.
1991 begins with Peggy Carter's husband embracing his retirement in the back garden of their family home on Fordway Road, and ends with a crashed car, SHIELD in turmoil, and a ghost wearing a face that has haunted Peggy Carter for over forty years.
