Blue-ish white swamp mist curled though the gap under the door, hazing low and opaque over the floorboards. It coalesced slowly, clotting and knitting into more and more solid shapes until Charbonneau stepped out of it. He was all contrasts: lustrously dark brown hair and eyes but pallid skin; broad and solid but catlike when he moved; a genteel, urbane smile with predator’s teeth behind it.

He likes Matt, he's funny, can cook incredibly food, stitches up his injuries occasionally and doesn't pry into his life. How could he not like him? He's practically a Godsend. However, he doesn't like how he always has injuries whenever he sees him.
