“Someone in PR thought it would be funny to hear the three of you during all of your games,” Coach LeClaire explains, “The idea got out and spread like wildfire.”
“Huh,” Hunter responds.
“It would be funny to hear me,” Ilya corrects, “I am funny. The other two are boring.”
He hears Hollander huff out a laugh and bump shoulders with him as Hunter continues to ask questions. Casually glancing over to the other man, he sees a small smile playing at his lips. His eyes, though, there was a gleam that he hadn’t seen before. He wasn’t certain what it could mean, but it couldn’t be good for Ilya.

“Inspector Hollander,” Rozanov said, accent thick and controlled, the syllables carrying through the dining room. “I was told about you. This is.. surprise.”
Shane sat posture-perfect in his chair, crossing one ankle over his knee. He lifted his water glass, unfazed. “Health Department inspections are usually unannounced.”
“Yes,” Rozanov agreed, eyes tracking him closely. “But Friday is.. busy day. And you come when you are not scheduled.”
That caught Shane’s attention. High-end kitchens such as these track inspectors obsessively. Someone in management definitely knows Shane's usual schedule. By now, the whole brigade de cuisine probably knows. “Word travels fast.” Shane said, eyes finally clicking with Rozanovs.
“In good kitchen, everything moves fast.”

“No one is going to kill me. Except maybe you,” says Ilya, sprawling in the chair across from her. “I didn't need any of the other bodyguards and I don't need this one.”
“You're going to have to talk to him sooner or later.” Svetlana turns her attention back to Hollander. “Ilya doesn't take the threats against him seriously.”
“He's not my first client to feel that way,” he says. He has brown eyes and freckles, a spray of them across the bridge of his nose. “Can you tell me more about the threats?”
“Of course.” She gestures to the chair next to Ilya and pulls out a binder for Hollander. “He came out as bisexual last year and the threats started not long after.”
“I receive a lot of good mail too,” says Ilya. “DMs, letters, even photos. Very nice ones.”
“The binder for dick pics you've gotten is ten times as thick,” says Svetlana. Ilya opens his mouth to crack another joke, but she holds up her hand. “Yes, yes, like your dick. Get some new material.”
