Summary
“I’m retired,” the man explained, which didn’t tell Ororon much at all. He looked forty or forty-five at the oldest.
“Retired from what?”
“You ask a lot of questions.”
“Well, you keep answering them.” Ororon ran his finger along the rim of his now-empty glass, feeling warm and loose and a little scared by the man to his right. “I’m not retired. I do whatever. I keep bees, and I sell my vegetables, and I deliver newspapers, and I walk dogs…” He trailed off. What did Ororon do? Nothing? Was he made of odd jobs paid in cash?- Language:

Summary
Kaveh once thought that he would run out of himself. He would give and give and one day there wouldn’t be any left and then he would die. But there is no dying in e-cigarette purgatory and there is no salvation in waiting for eternity, except maybe if Kaveh waits for one more eternity there will be.

Summary
Al-Haitham confesses to Kaveh with all the passion of someone reporting a traffic jam.
“Kaveh, I like you,” Al-Haitham says, deep voice cutting into the silence, like the fact of it disappoints him. Like it’s an immutable but deeply distressing truth. Like the idea of liking Kaveh depresses him, or worse, bores him.
“Well, I don’t like you,” Kaveh replies waspishly. And then, desperately: “Why would you say that to me?”
