Summary
Steve has always been turned on by fear. For as long as he can remember. He’s not even sure when or why it started, just that the adrenaline rush of fear registers the same as arousal for him. The drop that forms knots in the pit of his stomach. Steve doesn’t have butterflies, just that swoop of fear, the second of free falling, of flying, before reality sets in.
He is falling. He is terrified. He is so, so turned on.
He has seen the altar before, but never this close. It’s a stone slab about as big as a bed, with one anchor point at the top, for the manacles at his wrists, and a second, lower down, to secure his collar to the altar. It doesn’t matter that he chose this, because everyone tried to run, apparently, no matter how much they thought they were going to stay. They all tried to run.
OR Steve sacrifices himself on the altar of a god and gets a lot more than he bargained for. like. a LOT more.

Eddie can’t seem to look away, can’t bring his ethereal gaze back up where it belongs. Steve thinks he should run, he should flee. A tiny part of him knows Eddie will chase him. Eddie will catch him, outrun him easily.
It's more than a little fucked up how that thrills him.
