Summary
When Paimon and Aether set off on their journey through Mondstadt, there’s still many things Aether doesn’t know about Teyvat’s culture and language, and it’s Paimon’s job to teach him.
Except, she keeps missing things.
Normally, it wouldn’t be a problem, if it weren’t for the fact these issues keep popping up in the worst ways.
But, Paimon doesn’t think she minds that much in the end. Her best friend is worth thousands of mistakes.
(Or: Five times Aether messes up in understanding Teyvat’s culture and the one time it’s okay he did.)

Paimon declares herself Aether’s translator.
Aether—unsurprisingly—does not argue with that. He has learned when to accept his losses, and this is one of them. He is not confident in his ability to speak and understand Common, not like the confidence he had with every other language.
He understands Paimon though, and Paimon understands him.
Or: Paimon teaches Aether Teyvat’s language and they become siblings in the process
