“What are you doing here?” she scolded, when she finally tracked Conan down in a park four blocks away. The streetlights only blurred the dimming dusk into shadows and shapes, and she had to squint. “Ran and the kids have been looking for you.”
He paused when he heard her. He stared at her, then past her, and her heart dropped at his blank expression.
“I don’t remember the way home,” he said. -

The doctors call it retrograde amnesia.
All of her personal memories—family and friends, painful and happy, everything—are just…gone. As if they had never existed in the first place.
Ran dully mimics the emotions she’s supposed to have about the situation, a shoddy mask over a hollow heart. There are no arms she can run to for comfort. No names she can call out to for help. No joyful memories to dull the yawning, all-consuming emptiness in her mind.
She doesn’t feel like Ran. She doesn’t even feel human. She barely exists at all. Ran feels like leftovers, the discarded remnants of a dead girl.
The doctors can call it whatever they want.
Ran calls it hell.

Summary
Conan didn't intend for Ran and Kazuha to find out his secret like this. Really, leaving his phone laying around was a mistake anyone could have made at any given time! People forgot phones at home all the time! He knew the consequences would be complicated, he was not prepared.
