“Trust me, I’m good with staying as a son of Hermes. If I wasn’t, how would I have stolen your heart?”
“Gross,” Ricky giggles, absolutely no discomfort or annoyance in his voice at all, “don’t be weird.”
“Sorry, pretty boy. You signed up for this, weirdness and all.”
Ricky glances up at Gyuvin with an overwhelming serious look in his eyes. Ricky’s had that look in his eyes since the moment he stepped back into camp. Gyuvin isn’t sure why, and he’s too afraid to ask. He wonders if it has something to do with his ultimatum from his parents.
“I know. The Fates can be cruel, but at least they brought us together. I hope they never tear us apart.”
Gyuvin hopes there isn’t a deeper meaning to what Ricky’s saying. He isn't sure he can handle another summer of heartbreak.
Gyuvin and Ricky spend their final summer at Camp Half-Blood together. Nothing has to change after summer ends, right?

Summary
Ricky is used to getting the short end of the stick. Especially when he’s also simultaneously getting the long end of a better stick. And Gyuvin might be everyone’s responsibility, but he’s also, clearly, his. It’s a stray kind of situation. Stray dog follows you on the way home and you’re so endeared by its puppy dog eyes that you get a collar and a nice little dog bed and you get attached before you even find out that it bites. Gyuvin picked Ricky out of a pile of mousy little trainees and like sure, that’s his dog now. They’re each other’s, or whatever. The sky is blue and they like each other a little too much.
