Summary
"I kill so others don't have to," Bruce states firmly and clearly. This entire situation didn't seem like it could get any more bizarre, what with Bruce sitting in the dark and polishing guns, but somehow it just has, "While you are here you will not kill."
Jason's throat is scratchy and dry with terror, but the insatiable feeling of being talked over and disregarded is a fresh wound. He can't back down from this if he tried, "I've killed. I still kill. Who the fuck do you think you are to stop me?"
Bruce gently sets down his gun, and picks up the blade beside him with practised ease. Jason's blood runs cold when the man wearing his father's face says, "You will die by my hand if you try."
(Jason meets a version of Bruce who has manifested his fears very differently.)

Summary
The boy watches him carefully, focusing sharply on his every reaction, “You got any kids?”
Bruce makes sure the surprise at the question is not evident on his face, “I don't,” He answers heavily.
Peter closes his eyes with a slow and deliberate movement, disappointment evident in the way his shoulders relax in defeat, “So you're not my dad, huh?”
“No, Peter,” Bruce confirms gently, not sure why the truth feels wrong, “I'm not your father.”
The boy opens his eyes, expression full of grief and eyes a blazing gold flecked with green, “My name's actually Jason.”
(A strange boy covered in scars enters Doctor Bruce Wayne's emergency room.)

Summary
His throat felt raw, shredded, and there was a taste in his mouth, copper and something else, something floral and sickeningly sweet. When he finally managed to pull his hand away from his mouth, gasping for air that wouldn't quite fill his lungs, there was a single petal resting against his glove.
It was red. Deep, arterial red, so dark it looked black in the shadows cast by Gotham's smog-choked sky. The edges were slightly curled, delicate as tissue paper, and there was a smear of blood across its surface—his blood, he realised with a strange, detached horror.

Summary
Jason Todd is really good at his job. He's not so good at... well... being good.
Instead of surviving on the streets, Jason finds himself trafficked to Two-Face's gang, where his small size and breaking and entering skills keep him valuable. Three years later, with all his escape attempts frustrated and his future looking bleak, Jason is hand-picked for a suicide mission into Cadmus. Jason could maybe figure out a way out if it were just him. Maybe. But now Batman is shot and cuffed in his cell, and things just got much more complicated.
TLDR: Jason Todd is a twelve-year-old criminal genius, which leads to him getting adopted last of the Wayne brood.
