Summary
He was an outsider, but instead of being put on a pedestal by himself, he was grouped together with the 7 and held at their feet. He wasn’t singular. He was another member in a quest he never wanted to be apart of.
Things only got worse when the war ended. Jason wasn’t Greek or Roman enough to fit in anywhere, he wasn’t special, he wasn’t the best swordsman, he wasn’t the most powerful.
He was mediocre. Old news. Stagnant in all the wrong ways.

Summary
Vaggie always felt conflicted about the extermination.
Was it fair, going down there, killing souls who already died? They were overpopulated, they deserved it, they were evil. Right? This was what those scumbags deserved. At least, that’s what they were told. One of the many lies spoon fed to every exorcist in order to keep them in line.
“They’re evil.”
“They deserve it.”
“They’re scum.”
The indoctrinated part of Vaggie believed it—was never one to show any mercy when she slaughtered those souls. But a smaller part of Vaggie resented the notion, or at least, resented the killing. Sure, maybe they were all awful people, but did they really deserve to die? Permanently?

Summary
He pushed rather than opened the door, stumbling over to the sink. He grabbed the porcelain with shaking hands, hunching over himself with a pained wince. God. What the hell did he do yesterday?
He was still trying to wrack his brain for answers when he turned on the tap, letting the water run until it was ice cold. (For Hell’s standards, anyway.)
He filled his hands with water, still blinking blearily before splashing his face. It helped a bit with the residual fatigue but that was about it.
He almost didn’t want to look up. He didn’t know what happened, but if he felt this bad he almost definitely looked worse.
Still, he forced himself to look up at the mirror. Part of him was expecting his typical pyjamas, maybe his suit from the day before. Instead, he was greeted with a bare torso covered in red burns, hardly healed stab wounds, and partially healed cuts.
He blinked, staring at the mass of injuries with even more confusion.

Summary
Like all those times before, he felt the electricity build until it felt like pure lightning in his veins. As if his very blood had been replaced with electrical currants.
Just like all those times before, he felt the machine draining him. As if it were stealing his very essence and fruitlessly trying to replenish it with pure energy.
It didn’t help that with these new cords, the electricity was flowing through his body. It felt like bees under his skin, in his muscles, flying around and stinging everything in their path. Sharp. Painful. Burning.
(He swore his organs were cooking from how hot it was.)
The feeling stopped but all he could do was breathe deeply, trying to make sure he didn’t pass out. He could vaguely make out voices above him, something about “overloading a weapon” and “making shots count”, but Lucifer’s brain was too fuzzy to put it together.

“GUYS!” Someone screamed. Too close, too close, go away— “Stop fighting. You’re freaking him out.”
Someone touched something on his side and gods, it hurt. He let out a whimper, trying to curl in on himself. This was too much—everything was too much. He could still smell the acrid stench of sweat and blood, feel the dirt and grime covering every inch of his body, could hear their breathing, talking, shifting. Everything felt like a knife in his ears, stabbing and grating. He wanted it to stop. He wanted everything to stop.
He felt something, a hand on his. Real. Firm. Warm. He let out a choked noise, wounded and raw.
“Jason?”

Summary
It wasn't supposed to happen like this. This wasn't how the story was meant to happen. The two of them weren't meant to fall, they weren't meant to be the two tasked with closing the doors. Everything pointed towards this all being wrong, unplanned, like they'd slipped through the Fates' fingers, tumbling down into the abyss. It wasn't meant to be them, the two opposing sides in an age-old war, sky versus ocean, Greek versus Roman, but it was.

Jason Grace grew up at Camp Half-Blood, surviving the monsters that killed his sister and nearly killed Annabeth, Luke, and himself, only to find himself quickly facing steadily more perilous quests, all leading up to the most feared prophecy of the gods. Percy Jackson left New York with his mother long before any satyr could have found him, lasting only a few months in San Francisco before the growing danger forced Sally to take him to the only safe place she knew of---Camp Jupiter---where he would stay for the majority of his life thereafter. Neither could have anticipated that their fates would be so entwined with one another nor that there were far more prophecies about them than could be given.
