Most of all, however, it was his hand at your side that remained consistent.
He never directly alluded to it. Never once did he make it clear that it was intentional. You knew it was— you weren't stupid. But it sure as hell made you second guess his intentions.

It makes your insides feel gooey, a sliced lava cake. Caine bats a hand, bashfully wafting his face and pretending to twirl a piece of imaginary hair. “Oh, you!”
