Summary
The warship window had frosted over sometime that evening, and now as the downtown lights filtered through it they were distorted into some rosier, warmer glow.
The Nemesis was permanently parked on the foothills above the new city, and so was Optimus Prime. And through his newly frosted window he could make out something resembling life down below. It was like watching a young child blink open its eyes, or a star erupting into being.
He was not a dramatic mech. His melancholy was much too mundane for this sort of romanization. Still, he allowed himself a few moments every night, simply to watch from his Nemesis window as the downtown lights flickered into new life.

Summary
“Sometimes,” Optimus says, an admission that feels like a failing, “I realize I do not know you at all.”
“By design,” Megatron answers. “It matters little. I know you, and that has been enough.”
Nothing about their conversations read like that is true. Megatron thinks so little of him, thinks him still that opportunistic bot who had big dreams and no real plans. Optimus has not been Orion in so long, and Megatron has only seen him as an adversary.
“No,” Optimus denies, finding himself insulted, almost. “You don’t know me, not as I am now. You do not know what you made me have to be.”
He doesn’t grant Megatron the courtesy of a response before he leaves.

In the wake of the Cybertronian Civil War ending, Optimus finds himself struggling to rebuild a planet ravaged by war. Megatron remains imprisoned awaiting trail as the world continues on without him. Lost, stressed, and uncertain, Optimus seeks refuge in conversation with his once enemy.

“Are you alright?” Optimus asked, instinctively. He scanned his frame again, but there was no major wound, nothing that would bring Megatron to his knees like this. Optimus reached out a hand, automatic. Megatron’s optics widened as he fell to one knee. “What have you done to me?!” he yelled at Optimus uselessly. He curled around his torso, as if to protect his spark. Then, he noticed the hand. “Stay the fuck away –”
Optinus looked at him, confused, afraid, until – of course. The conjunx endura bond. Hurting him, really hurting him, hurt Megatron, too.
