Summary
Adelia feels her life is ending.
Her father has whittled away the family fortune, leaving them destitute. Desperate to hold on to his lands and holdings, Adelia's father agrees to marry her off to a mysterious Baron for a large sum of money. Adelia has heard horrific tales of the Baron's monstrous nature and is beyond terrified at this arrangement but has no choice but to bend to the will of her father.
Adam Frankenstein is a recluse. He knows that people whisper about him, his refusal to make public appearances without donning a mask does nothing to quell the rumors. They say he is cursed, deformed, a monster, and perhaps this is true. He has been advised to take a wife, to solidify his influence in the High Society of Europe. He reluctantly agrees, if only to uphold the memory of his creator.
Married, but still strangers.

Summary

Evelyn Montgomery, mistreated by her brother and forced into servant-like labor despite an injury that leaves her crippled, finds warmth and kindness at the home of the Andersons, old friends of her family. She then meets Adam, the Andersons’ enormous, scarred and painfully shy apprentice.

Summary
Sharing a bed with Hardy shouldn’t have been a challenge, then. It was weird, at first, although that was more a matter of who he was. After she got past the part where he was her superior officer, it hadn’t been too dreadful.
At least he didn’t snore. In fact, he barely moved; Hardy slept like a corpse laid out in a morgue, stiff and motionless. So still that she caught herself glancing over just to make sure he was breathing. She sometimes wondered if in trying to hide all traces of feeling, he’d managed to shut off the rest of his humanity, too. With the right amount of disregard, she could almost pretend the bed was empty, if not for the steady warmth radiating from his side of the mattress.
It wasn’t ideal, but it wasn’t intolerable either.

Summary
William Frankenstein wants to sell the estate. Victor Frankenstein does not, but cannot deny that he requires money. He could of course do as his father did, and marry a woman with a large dowry, but he wishes to keep himself single and free, in case Elizabeth ever comes to her senses about being with him.
He does, however, technically have a male child. It will require careful handling, but if such a match were arranged correctly, the woman in question would not ever have to meet his creation.
Victor gets money, and some unmarriageable woman gets to say that she’s married without ever having to serve a husband. It’s quite an elegant solution.

Camille’s father and uncle have forced her into a marriage with a man she’s never met.
The thing is that nobody else seems to have met him either, and her new father-in-law will tell her nothing.
