“If I finish ahead of you this weekend, I get to make you do something of my choice!” Gabriel had said. He quite enjoyed goading his older teammate on; attempting to get a rise out of him. It had never worked though. Nico was practiced in the art of keeping his feathers unruffled. It pissed off Gabi to no end.
In this instance, Nico had just snorted and turned to return the teasing eye contact Gabi was giving him. “Right. And if I finish ahead of YOU, then I reap the same benefits.”
Gabi smirked in return. “Bring it on, old man!”

Summary
They’re coming down the first straight now, the starting grid flashing beneath the car. His speed is building, until he sees a marshall frantically waving double yellow flags to his right. Nico hits the brakes, coming up on turn one, seeing debris everywhere. There is smoke rising from somewhere, and a deep, gut feeling settles into his chest before he even sees the car. The barrier off to the right is destroyed, and as he turns the corner, a bright green Sauber that matches his own comes into view.
