Summary
Thomas Baker is an American college student studying abroad in Paris when a night out drinking with other boys turns into something far more sinister. In an attempt to flee a deadly fate, he instead encounters Lady Marié Evereaux, a centuries-old vampire who brings him into her world of magic and darkness in order to save his life. In her Hôtel Pied de Alouette and beyond, Thomas will learn much about Paris' supernatural underground, history, swordplay, magic, and even himself.
Or herself, as the case may be.
The fledgling vampire will battle beside and against witches, demons, lycanthropes, and more in her slow and inevitable unraveling of not only the conspiracy that brought her here, but its dark and cruel past. The arc of history is long, as Lady Marié knows well, and though it never repeats itself, it does often rhyme.Bookmarked by VermillionBlue

Summary
Meet Jack, a standard issue asshole who is, all things considered, doing well for himself. He has a career path open, a group of friends to socialize with, and is set to coast along comfortably as a mediocre man just like so many mediocre men before him.
Un(?)fortunately for Jack, he crosses paths with a witch who has a bone to pick with men like him, and, well, let's just say his life gets a lot more complicated very quickly.
With everything he took for granted suddenly ripped away, can Jack figure out what makes him who he is? More importantly, can he figure out how to exist in the system he's always known now that his worldview has been turned upside down?

BURN THE PAST TO FUEL TO THE FUTURE
Captain Ashley Morgan: a proud member of the guard; footsoldier of the visionary Industrial Barons; guardian of the seven spires of The Last City; and a broken mess of a person. Only when a mission goes awry, and she is thrust into a distant and alien world, does she realise the depths of her trauma. Rena—a satyr fae, living in a lonely shack in the woods—takes pity on her. Despite Ashley’s vehement resistance, they grow close, Ashley—and Rena—begin to heal. Yet one can never burn away their past, can never fully escape it.
