Summary
This is an alternate universe where Jang Bong Hwan never travelled back in time, but it follows a similar narrative where Cheoljong appears to be a puppet king, and So Yong is the woman selected by her powerful clan to be queen. It starts smack in the middle of the story where Cheoljong visits the queen’s chambers to find out what her motives are for saving him and Hwa Jin. From there, they have alternating POVs that show what transpired before that iconic confrontation in the Queen’s bedchamber. So Yong comes back from the lake a changed woman: strong, sassy, sly, shrewd.

The change was subtle, but Gon had been seeing Yeong out of the corner of his eye for long enough to know Yeong has heard or seen something he doesn’t like. Yeong began issuing orders and all around the room his Royal Guards suddenly looked agitated and on edge.
Gon’s eyes scanned the room looking for whatever it was that had changed, but nothing has.
There’s only one other place that would be on Yeong's radar and with a sinking feeling Gon realizes what this means. The problem, whatever it was, wasn’t happening here. Something is going on with the Queen.
