When Neuvillette learns how close Wriothesley came to being killed by the Primordial Sea, he finds his desire to care for the Melusines (diligently and from a safe emotional distance) has expanded to include the Duke of the Fortress of Meropide.
It’s not that odd. Neuvillette can do his best to help this particular human thrive, just like he’s done with the Melusines. It will help him better understand humans in general, which will help him better understand his purpose.
Surely he’s never going to have to think about it any more closely than that.

Aether grabs Scaramouche’s hand to stop it from its insistent poking, asshole. He thinks, but then blinks up at the other when he freezes. He tilts his head in confusion and-
“Fuck.” Scaramouche snatches his hand away from him, “I can still hear your damn thoughts.”
Aether’s eyes widen and he suddenly gets the biggest grin on his face,
“No.” Scaramouche’s eye twitches threateningly,

He knew he shouldn’t be alone during times like this, he needed support. Despite his want to never bother anyone- especially on a planet that was not his own, those whom he formed a close bond with still worry over him. It was nice, to be worried about- Aether needed it. Especially since his sister would not be coming home any time soon.
He missed her.
or// Aether has a bad mental week, and finds support in Ajax who is all too happy to give it in his role as a brotherly figure.
...And Aether is all too happy to eat as many noodles as he can in his depression. Ajax made good noodles, you can't blame him for this.
