Summary
When Hiccup’s final test in the Kill Ring does not go as planned, he runs away, sure that nothing he can ever say will change Berk’s mind. At least he’s not alone though, and with his cousins and several dragons by his side, they leave the archipelago.
Of course, not all is smooth sailing and Hiccup’s emergence as the Dragon Master earns him more than one enemy. Eventually, it also draws the attention of Berk, who are suffering from increased raids and struggling to survive. Desperate, they reach out to him for help, but will he deem them worthy and willing to change their ways?

Slowly, Leon opened his eyes to peer out at the dreary space with only the faint light of a single broken search light resting on a crate to illuminate the morbid cell of corpses. It was dingy and offered a very limited depth of illumination. He suspected the bulb within may have been dying out. It fluctuated from time to time, flickering and jittery. Its shaky shadows cast across the steel blue facade of the creature that knelt before the rookie officer. Its large hand was gentle as it reached for the hat. Leon lifted his fingers as the accessory was drawn away. They clasped tentatively around the massive leather clad forearm as he tilted his head back to peer up through his long lashes at the creature.
Quietly, as the creature stared back at Leon, he uttered the first words that came to mind. A wild whim, like childish madness, he imparted. “Tag, you're it.”
