As for what exactly the Sentinel was, no one knew.
Neo-religions called it a god. They claimed the Sentinel as their deity and ornamented their shrines with paltry imitations of the vivid blue light that lent its heartbeat to the city, declaring that they were the chosen people, that New Tokyo had been blessed. Suguru had no patience for such cultists. To him the Sentinel was no god.

Summary
A young man entered the cafe at speed, wild-eyed and panting. He locked eyes with Suguru and a moment later had vaulted over the counter and crouched at his feet, back pressed against the bar.
Suguru watched this happen with the vague detachment of the extremely overtired. He thought absently that it was lucky he’d cleaned up the drinks or they would have impeded what had been a rather impressive hurdle. The athlete in question was looking up at him with the most stunning blue eyes he’d ever seen.
He looked fucking terrified.
In which Gojo Satoru seeks shelter in a 24-hour cafe, but that pretty barista might be more than he bargained for.

Summary
Under the sunlight and away from the plants, Suguru could see Satoru in all detail. He was longer than he was tall, with extremely fine features for his size. Its white scaly skin was striking, blinding under the light. But he wasn’t pure white, Suguru realized. And it wasn’t all scales, either.
“It’s got feathers,” he said, stupidly.
Haibara-san gushed, “That was a surprise for everyone. Satoru is mostly Utahraptor, to get that size, but no one expected him to have that many feathers. The higher ups hated him when he came out of the egg; said he looked like a fancy chicken and threatened to have him cooked.”
“They really threatened to eat him?”
“Said they’d come down to the island and put him in a pot themselves. Then they sent Masamichi-sensei to look over the project. That was a couple years ago.”. . .
Suguru has been hired in the new Jurassic Park to help train Satoru, a young raptor created for the Japanese military. After a fight between dinosaurs causes a blackout, Suguru finds himself discovering how intelligent Satoru really is.

Summary
“You got another one?” asks the worst person Suguru knows, draping himself over Suguru’s back and peering over Suguru’s shoulder at the note.
“What have we said about respecting my privacy, Satoru?”
Satoru shrugs, jostling Suguru so badly he needs to adjust his footing. “I dunno. Something about how I should do it, probably. Who cares.”
“I care.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, any thoughts on who’s sending you these?” Satoru pokes the note with a long, pale finger, calloused from playing basketball and piano both.
Suguru wants to bite it. “None. I have no idea who they’re from, and I don’t care to find out.”
It’s a good thing that Suguru began his career as a liar at five years of age, after he’d broken the neighbours’ window with a carefully aimed rock. It comes easy to him, lying, especially when he feels that the moral high ground is his. And in this particular case, it most definitely is.
Suguru has been receiving 'anonymous' love notes for months. He has a reason for ignoring them.
