All any zombie can think of around humans is feeding, a mindless frenzy that overrides any lingering consciousness that they piece together when humans aren't around. One zombie sees someone they recognize from before they turned who seems a little too lively for a zombie, but she's definitely dead. She has to be.

In the far future, humanity has left Earth behind and moved to the Gaia System, consisting of six inhabited planets, three inhabited moons, and plenty of others that have yet to be terraformed- colloquially known as the "Nine Worlds". But the terraforming doesn't always come without side effects, and the planet Zoe is slowly overheating due to a runaway greenhouse effect. Those without the money to move off-world are forced to live underground to protect themselves from the heat, and in many parts of the planet even this is no longer enough, leading many people- including Parker- to move to the cooler Northern continent. But something about all of this seems oddly familiar..

Summary
"So he's really paralyzed?" Simon asks.
"Oh? Uh, yeah." Grace turns back to Rocky's sleeping form and gestures broadly at him.
Rocky is curled at the bottom of his tunnel, legs at his sides, body resting on the ground.
Simon nods, looking uncomfortable. "So he won't interrupt."
"Nah, he can't, he's– huh?" Grace fumbles for his glasses in earnest now. His heart rate picks up, but he's sort of hoping he's wildly misinterpreting what he just heard.
"Sit back down." Simon growls as Grace goes to stand up.
Slowly, Grace sits back down on the floor. He looks Simon over again and realizes, with a panicked flutter in his stomach that quickly spreads through his limbs like ice water, that Simon is holding a razor blade.

Grace & Rocky decide to go check out an SOS call. It could have gone better. (Trust me, eventual codependent friendship all around.)

Summary
The world as they all knew it is gone. Beasts roam the world, with insatiable appetites and hunger for humans. No one knows where they came from, and no one has the chance to figure it out. The end of it all wasn't quiet, it was filled with the screams of friends and enemies alike. Humanity though, has a strange way of persisting despite it all.
It's been nearly two years since the world ended. Simon has been banished from the only safe place he's known through it all. When he's rescued by a strange nerd and his blind friend, he really thinks he might just be doomed. With one less arm and no real plan, he decides to stick with them as they trek across the remains of the country in search of a place called Erid, all the while doing their best to stay alive and find out what in the world is left to fight for.

"Yes." Adrian sounds amused. Listen, it’s not Grace’s fault! He’s had a bunch of other things to worry about! Things like grading, and analyzing blood samples with disturbing origins, and checking in with Armando to make sure Simon’s healing properly—oh heck, it’s totally his fault. Oh well, he’ll live this down. Probably.
