Sasha watched him through half-lidded eyes, the conflict still gnawing at her chest even as sleep tugged insistently at her. “Alastor,” she murmured, voice soft, “what if this… what if it changes me?”
He paused.
For just a fraction of a second, the mania quieted, replaced by something dangerously close to honesty.
“It already has,” he said quietly. “The question is not whether you will change, my dear. It is whether you will choose what you become.”

Summary
A remix of part of Paian's "Mechanisms of Restraint", from Jack's point of view. Jack is convicted of a crime; the aliens require an eye-for-an-eye type of punishment: Jack was falsely convicted of rape; thus his punishment is, to be raped. What he doesn't realize is that it's Daniel who will carry out the sentence. You can read this one first, or the original story first (link at bottom).

Same premise as In the Room -- Jack is framed for a sex crime, Daniel talks the authorities into letting him carry out the mirror-punishment sentence -- but in this one there's no talking while it's happening, and there's as much Aftermath as Event.
