    Summary: Social Media companion fic to Back and Forth From NY. Post-Rose but Pre-Tampa, Shane comes out but Montreal takes it very very badly. He ends up trading to the NY Admirals, joining Scott and Eric, while Ilya remains in Boston. Both visit each other frequently, having decided on no longer hiding their relationship, culminating on getting married during the playoffs of the first year. Both adopt rookies (Luke and Luca) and dogs (Sunny and Anya), and somehow the entire Admirals team is this one large family of codependency and vaguely polucule shaped.

    Opinion: Love it! Very well written, definitely one of my favorites of this fandom

    After coming out to Rose, Shane decides he doesn't want to lie anymore, even if he isn't sure coming out will mean he gets happily ever after with Ilya. When coming out to the Voyageurs leaves him wondering what his future in Montreal might look like, he lets himself be a little selfish, he lets himself wonder if there might be somewhere else he might be happy. If Montreal wants to get rid of a generational player, he's not about to stop them, especially if it means he can get a little closer to joy.

    Beautiful 3-shot of two astronauts Shane and Ilya being left behind during an evacuation, and how they survived it in the hours after and during the following second disastrous event. Used loads of technical science terms that my eyes glazed over because I couldn't understand it, but the context and text flow helped convey what I refused to stop and Google for lol. Great writing, beautiful use of a plot where the entire timeline was only less than 1 day. I loved how Opal brought forward the story of Laika, and Gagarin, and utilized to convey Ilya's complex emotions of his family. Definitely numbers among the greats in this fandom - honestly this would make a fantastic script for a movie, too.

    Ilya Rozanov's life takes an unexpected turn when a deadly plane crash in 2021 takes his life, right after a fight with his long-time partner, Shane Hollander. Though instead of the afterlife, Ilya is sent back to December 2008, just before his NHL career began, on the very day that he first met Shane. He finds himself in a familiar world, with knowledge of both the future and knowledge of the man he loves and the friends he holds dear.

    As Ilya navigates this new reality, he rebuilds his relationship with Shane, who is still finding his path in both hockey and his identity as a gay man. With their rivalry blossoming into a different experience than the one Ilya experienced the first time around, the two face challenges around acceptance, family pressures, and the struggles of being openly gay and lovers in the sports world. Throughout their journey, Ilya contemplates his first life, cherishes the present, and strives to alter the course of their futures (and the futures of their friends) for the better.

    Or, Ilya Rozanov discovers first hand what the butterfly effect is, and how it can drastically alter the future.

    Title: Second Chance

    Summary: Ilya dies in the Ottawa plane crash after a bad argument with Shane. Cue time regression back to the beginning where Ilya chooses to drop his draft standing in order to go to Ottawa. They get into a relationship much much earlier and the resulting ripples affect everything else that happens.

    Comment: If I had a wish list for a time travel fic, this would be it. It has everything - less angsting over the relationship, gays winning the Cup, all of the GC players openly coming out on their terms, and a NHL that is forced to accommodate the sudden Broken (Closet) Door movement from its own players. They even gave Ryan a a Cup too!

    In Vegas, after they’d said everything right up to the edge of I love you, Shane and Ilya came up with a plan. It was long term, with many, many steps. There might be a spreadsheet somewhere that Shane won’t admit to.

    But it’s a plan, nonetheless. Over the summer of 2014, they tweak it and add things important to the both of them. There are even many, extensive, contingency plans.

    Thanks to Shane's small lie the first time they hooked up, Shane and Ilya are together years earlier. Now, they have to figure out what to do about it.

    The 10-Step Plan

    Summary: 2nd in Hollanov series. Basically after their first hookup, Shane lied about there being people in the hallway to keep Rozanov longer. Rozanov does the same, and the butterfly effects bring about the relationship sooner. In this story, they hashed out a 10-step plan to plan their future together. Halfway through, they in estimated the emotional strain and readjust their plan to come out much sooner.

    Very lovely work. Probably my favorite that utilizes the OG scenes in an interesting way to bring about similar emotional peaks.
