Summary
It starts with Shane running out of Ilya’s apartment after one too‑intimate moment over a tuna melt. He tries to bury it by dating Rose Landry, but the Montreal club night blows everything open jealousy, staring, avoidance, all of it. Rose eventually breaks up with him gently, seeing the truth he can’t say out loud.
At the All‑Star Game, things shift from canon. Ilya avoids Shane completely, never realizing Shane and Rose are over. Then Shane’s injury happens. As opposing captain, Ilya visits him in the hospital, only to have a pain‑med‑softened Shane ask him to come to his family cottage. Ilya says “maybe,” assuming Shane won’t remember, and ghosts him again.
Months later, on summer break in Spain, Ilya wanders into the Gaixample and finds himself surrounded by openly queer couples happy, unafraid, everything he’s never let himself imagine. Something cracks open. He thinks of Shane. He texts him.
Does Shane remember the invitation?

Shane is the one naked and dripping wet, and he still feels like Ilya is the one who exudes sex. Just standing there, brushing his teeth. When Shane turns off the water, Ilya hands him a towel and then turns around to rinse his mouth with the hotel mouth wash.
