Summary
Eddie Diaz was a simple man. He worked his job at the LAFD, he spent time with his son, and he hung out with friends and family when he had the time off. He liked it. He liked simple. And he knew sometimes his job brought him complications and that he had faced emergencies that felt like they had come out of someone’s twisted imagination, but somehow he had still not been prepared for this.
“Dad, freeze!” Christopher shouted from across the room. “The floor is lava! You can’t come in!”
Eddie looked at the bright red floor and the fear on all the children’s faces. He stopped in his tracks, coming up with any sort of plan, thinking this was turning out to be one of the weirder calls he’d had since joining the 118.

Summary
It’s a Thursday. Jungkook feels like Thursdays are actually the worst day of the week. Mondays are automatically bad because you have to work. Tuesdays aren’t as bad because you’ve gotten through Monday and now you’re in the groove of it. Wednesdays are usually good because you’re halfway through the week and you can splurge on the good ramen for lunch. And obviously Fridays are good because it’s the last day of the week. You just need to make it through that last bit and it’s the weekend.
But Thursdays are nothing days.
Made it through the middle of the week but not close enough to the end to make it feel like you’ve accomplished anything.
Sometimes Jungkook feels like a Thursday.

“You didn’t talk much today, Hyung.”
Yoongi shrugs with one shoulder, “I didn’t have much to say.”
“You didn’t have anything to say on systemic inequality en masse?” he asks unbelieving. Yoongi shrugs again, still just staring. “Hyung I’ve seen your worn out paperbacks filled with essays and opinions on societal wrongdoings.”
He stretches out his legs, “I just didn’t think my thoughts mattered in a fake conversation.” He stands up with a yawn.
“How was it a ‘fake conversation’, Hyung? We were all sitting in here together talking.”
“No, Namjoon-ah. You were talking and saying things that are empirically accurate so that everyone else in the room could say, ‘Wow, Namjoon-ah you’re so smart’, ‘Namjoon-ah you’re so thoughtful’, ‘Oh, Namjoon-ah you’re so good with your words’. Which is fine to want validation for your ideas but, a circle jerk isn’t a conversation.”

Yoonji’s voice is soft and concerned, “Koo I don’t think you could be bad at anything. Also relationships are about growing together so if you’re dating someone and they don’t like that you’re not experienced they can fuck off.”
“Oh uh. Well.” She takes a deep breath and runs a hand through her hair. “I was hoping you would help me? Get experience?” She finally peeks over to look at Yoonji.

Taehyung works in the coffee shop on campus. The pay is terrible but the coffee is pretty good and the discount is great. It’s easy to meet up for group projects, and his friends don’t mind hanging around while he closes up because they get to eat all the baked goods that are done for the day.
His life is pretty simple. Busy, but simple. He has his friends, he has his school work, and he has his job. It all works and it all works smoothly, which is what Tae loves most about it.
Well, it did work smoothly. Until his manager decided to add another barista.
