Summary
Hunter cracks a grin. “I’ll get it, shortie,” he trills, reaching over her head to grasp the offending item. Because he’s literally required to milk this situation, he takes care to pat her on the head on his way, and Amity gives an irritable huff in response. He’s still bringing the noodles down off the shelf when someone else starts speaking; an older woman from across the aisle.
“Aw,” she says, directing herself towards Amity. “The way you two bicker reminds me of my husband and I. How long have you been together?”

Summary
“Hi, Ghost,” Luz says in greeting. Her hands fumble with residual sleepiness as she goes to scratch them under the chin. Purring approvingly, Ghost leans into the touch, and Luz smiles. It’s tired, like the majority of her smiles nowadays, but genuine, too, Ghost thinks. “Everyone else is gone, but you’re still here, huh? You like me more, or something?”
"Silly human, of course I do," Ghost says fondly, snuggling deeper under Luz’s chin. At least, that’s what they try to do, but then they realize that Luz has gone deathly still underneath them. Ghost pulls back with a spike of worry and finds that Luz’s mouth is gaping open. Looking at them.
Luz says, with a noticeable waver to her voice, “Did you just say something?”

Ghost is made by Amity's hand, and they are by Amity's side as much as they can be. But she's not the only one.
Luz is important, too. They can both agree on that.
