Summary
Sometimes he feels like every minute of his life is a test, and he’s failing. People look at him and wonder if he deserves to be where he is no matter what, inherent. Because of who he is. Because of the way he looks. People question the choice to make him captain, question his decision-making and his ability to be effective at the job. It doesn’t matter how many times he proves himself.
He’s earned it, but he has to keep earning it. Not offering up more reasons for people to doubt him. Not making them think the captain of the team decided to sit out a game for some stupid shoulder pain.

Summary

Summary
This time yesterday, he’d already gone for his morning run, showered and had breakfast. Honestly, he should get up soon. He should go for his run. Just because it’s the off-season doesn’t mean he should forego exercising completely. But the idea of going for a run while Ilya is asleep in his bed, makes something in Shane’s chest twinge. Ilya, asleep and comfortable and safe, should not wake up in an empty bed. Not after the night they had, vulnerable and aching.
