The boy paused for a moment, and regarded him with an eiree silence. Newt hated WCKD, but as he looked into the boys whiskey gold eyes, he decided that people could be evil AND cute.
"Hi. Subject A5-"
"My name's Newt."
The boy watched him curiously. "Newt," he said, letting the words roll of his tongue. "Nice to meet you. I'm Thomas."

Summary
The Darkling uses merzost once again, though this time he just wants to make something good, something for him. He succeeds. Baghra finds the result of his experiments and decides that he can never know that he has created a son. So, she sends the boy away, and he grows up far away from any thoughts of Grisha, the Little Palace, or even Ravka itself.
Until sixteen years later, when one Kaz Brekker (the adopted son of the Rietvelds, though no one knew that particular detail about him) takes on a job to kidnap the Sun Summoner, and he and his crew find themselves in Ravka. Things start to get a little more complicated from there.
