Post war, Keith meets a blade member whose personality is a lot like Lance. He knows Lance will never feel the same for him, so when this blade asks Keith out, he accepts.
He settles because no matter how much he wants Lance, he'll rather have someone, than being alone. He craves some affection. After being deprived of it his whole life.
So he says yes.
The problem?
Lance is developing feelings now.
