Nat and Shauna glare at Lottie. She wants to mark it as another point in support of her plan, but the intensity gives her pause.
“Fine, I’ll spill. You two have been at each other’s throats for days. Normally, whatever—go with God and may the Force be with you—but in case you haven’t noticed, we’re in sunny Trenton, New Jersey, to play state championship soccer.” Lottie leans forward. “And when you guys are fighting, you fucking suck at it.”
A misplaced ball sparks a feud between Shauna and Nat that threatens to derail the team’s championship hopes.
Lottie has a plan to get them to kiss and make up.

“Shauna’s dead in your world, and you’re alive,” Misty bulldozed over her stuttering. “Yet here you’re dead, and Shauna’s alive.”
Her breath left her body, eyes unfocusing as the realization began thrumming through her veins. The idea had been there, obviously, that she’d woken up in some parallel world to her own. Shauna’s ghost visage, who’d yet to reappear, said as much in her own cryptic way. She was evidently supposed to see Shauna again, which she thought meant she was about to die.
And maybe she did.
Her hand came up to her chest, feeling for her own heartbeat. It was there, steady and clear. Wherever she was, Jackie Taylor was alive, and whatever world she’d been zapped into had a living, breathing Shauna.

Summary
Jackie’s in her sophomore year of college and has spent the better part of a semester slowly reconnecting with Shauna over the phone after the dual betrayal of Shauna sleeping with Jeff and going to Brown. She’s also spent multiple semesters hooking up with every brunette she can get her hands on.
When she realizes these two things may be connected during a phone call with Shauna, she plans a surprise trip to Providence with a mission to seduce her best friend… and instead catches her in bed with a familiar face.
And that just simply will not do.
