    Lan Zhan and Wei Ying are soulmates and, upon Wei Ying's death, they are sent back to when they first met as kids on the streets of Yiling. From there, they both are taken to Gusu, where they are raised together, gradually learning of their shared feelings and finding out the mystery of who sent them back in time and why, all while planning how to save the world, preferably with all their loved ones left alive.

    The Yiling Wei Sect was a name banded around when the community was just the young, old and ill, when Wei Wuxian was just a young man without a core and running on nothing but the desire to keep these people safe. Taking the Wens to the Burial Mounds was not a way to make his own sect but to keep them safe.

    It doesn't start to feel like a 'sect' - or even a home - until Lan Wangji visits, sees the devastation, rolls up his sleeves and gets to work.
