She walks the rest of the way alone, and it’s easy. Three steps, that’s all. Just three. In the end, Lord Voldemort is close enough that Harry has to look up to meet her gaze. From this distance, Harry can see the beat of her pulse in her throat, the subtle flare of her slit nostrils as she scents the air, breathing her in. It would be nothing at all, to reach out and touch her. It would be hell.
But Lord Voldemort has touched her before. She survived it then, and she’ll survive it now.
Or: Lord Voldemort discovers that Harry Potter is a Horcrux when attempting to possess her in the Ministry. This changes things.

Summary
The first duel, also traditional (if only among those families called to the Dark), is next. Mrs Weasley had loudly protested its inclusion, relenting only when Harry told her he’d demanded it himself. He needs it, if he’s going to do this right, and he’s determined to do it right. Voldemort values him as he values any of his horcruxes. In making sure Harry understood what this meant, Snape was relentless. And what it means is this: Voldemort does not love him. Voldemort does not particularly want him, either.
But Harry is going to make him.
