Summary
It had been months since the world had fallen into chaos. The once bustling cities were now hauntingly silent, their streets overrun by the undead.
“You’re acting a little too calm about all this, Jade.” Tori couldn’t move from the corner she currently slumped in. She spoke in a small, quiet voice, not wanting to be too loud.
She was afraid those things would hear her.
“If I’m not calm then who will be?” She said, a tone of urgency in her voice. Tori swallowed hard. Jade’s eyes locked onto Tori’s momentarily, pausing her packing. She watched as Jade adjusted her jaw before going back to her task.
“I have clothes that you can use,” Tori watched the other girl throw comfortable clothes into both packs.
“They’re mostly black,” Jade looked back at her again, giving her a quick once over.
“You’ll live.” The casual banter made Tori feel a bit better — but there was nothing hiding the feeling of fear, no matter how hard you try to ignore it. She could see fear even in the fearless goth girl’s hands, as they shook lightly with every movement. ‘You’ll live’, she repeated in her head. How ironic.
“Jade, I —“
“I know, Vega. I know.” Tori didn’t hear the usual bite in her voice.

Summary
The client hadn’t really requested anything at all; their emails had been almost overly polite, if not jarringly formal, and had selected only the most vanilla options on the questionnaire she provided. Certainly a far cry from the standard practices of her usual clientele, but this one had paid upfront and picked this expensive hotel, and Mira’s fees are dear enough on their own that she had been coloured intrigued.
Mira takes a left down the hallway after leaving the elevator and finds herself at the door to the room. She doesn’t steel herself—doesn’t need to. She can handle anything. Has handled most things. Mira swipes the keycard and lets herself in.
The person sitting on the bed is probably the last thing she expects.
In which Mira is a professional, Rumi is socially inept, and Zoey is also there. Let's hope nobody catches feelings.

Celine hid this secret from everyone, raising Rumi as a boy and fooling the entire kingdom into believing that their king was a man. Rumi accepted this lie, knowing that revealing her secret would cost both her and Celine their lives.
While the kingdom generally accepted their king’s more feminine facial features, the lack of a queen was something that simply could not be tolerated. At the late age of twenty-five, their king needed to be married and producing heirs and both Celine and Rumi knew that they would have to acquiesce to their courtiers' demands or face civil unrest.

Two unfamiliar players stood across the net. The taller one was hard to miss. She was taller than the rest of the team, lean and muscular, with a high ponytail of pink hair that somehow looked more dangerous than cute. The girl beside her was shorter, but no less intense. Her hair was braided tightly down her back, and her jersey clung to the kind of arms that made Zoey do a double take.
She smiled and gave a casual wave, trying to be charming. A simple, friendly hello.
They didn’t wave back.
They didn’t do anything, actually, just looked at her. Then a coach called them over, and they turned away without a word.
Zoey blinked, her hand still mid wave. Rude.

Summary
Zoey has been unemployed for months when a friend tells her about an opening for a video game designer. It’s at Sussie Studios, the creator of her favorite game: Demon Hunters. When she goes into the office for her interview, she’s intimidated and intrigued by the two gorgeous women interviewing her.
Soon, Zoey begins to suspect Sussie is involved in something with far higher stakes than game development. And the two women, Rumi and Mira, prove to be far more than coworkers to her.
