choi soobin and choi yeonjun have been friends since they can remember, before that, even. but love is a pesty little thing. it crawls into places where you don't want to find it.
so when yeonjun confessed, and soobin kissed him back, they thought they found their happily ever after.
wrong.

"pick me. choose me. love me."
chois and kangs have been enemies for centuries. think of the romeo and juliet's family history, just with a lot more blood. choi beomgyu's parents killed kang taewoo, and he watched it happen. that was how he learnt that love is worth killing for.
he has always been told to never, ever fall in love with a kang.
but beomgyu, always so obedient, has finally (and unknowingly) broken his first rule.
and he'll break a lot more.
if only this story was more like that bittersweet shakespearean tragedy—maybe then everyone who witnessed their love would feel sympathy for them instead of hatred.
it's a pity they turned out this way.

choi beomgyu is the image of a perfect student, the perfect friend, the perfect son.

beomgyu is in love. that's okay, except for the fact the object of his desire is... not a human. it's a demon. what makes it even worse for beomgyu's sanity is that his love interest is far too pretty, far too thoughtful, and worst of all: far too innocent. it's like taehyun is more of a angel than a devil.
also, beomgyu's pretty fucking stupid.

Taking the heart, the child excitedly inspected it, nodding in glee. “Yes! My mama told me that when someone leaves the hospital to go to heaven, we all fold a paper heart for them! Like this, like this!”
“That’s right,” chuckled Soobin. “But do you know how it started? It started here, in this room. From a boy who used to fold a paper heart every day for his lost love, hoping each one he makes will take him closer to the day those eyes would open again.”
"Unfortunately for him, the day never came."
In other words, a hopeless love story of two childhood best friends who didn't realise what it meant to have each other until it was too late; compiled of yearning, loss, forlorn hope, unrequited love, and every tragedy in between.
