"Tell me a secret," Elphie says one night when Galinda is ready for bed, and is longing on top of her pillows, pretending to read. Elphie has just got back some minutes ago, and is for some reason distraught. She hangs her jacket on the coat rack absentmindedly, stopping at the centre of their room. There is a cloud of emotion hanging over her head, and Galinda suddenly realises that she is out of time.
"You can't just demand secrets, Elphie," Galinda chides her, doing an admirable job of hiding the fact that her heart sits in her throat. The world buzzes at the edges of her vision. "You know how the game works."
"Alright," Elphie stands in the middle of the room, arms folded on her chest. Galinda averts her eyes from how this pose highlights Elphie's biceps. "Alright." She turns to Galinda. "My secret is that I think Fiyero is not good for you."
(or: Galinda struggles with intimacy in her relationship with Fiyero, but thankfully she has a friend who is always happy to help)
