He swallowed. He tried speaking, but his mouth just opened like a fish and nothing dared to exit. Raphael’s throat felt raw. Not the pleasant kind of raw he would have after a long night with Haarlep, rather a rawness he hadn’t felt since deep in his youth.
Worry. Worry was what was in their stomach, they recognized. This was out of character. They were used to explosive anger, unexplained anger, shouting and screaming, but pure silence was not even a thought within their mind when thinking of their master. Was it anger? Or was it sadness? Fear. But what was there to be afraid of? What caused this fear? What would stem from it?

“Mr. T. Dear. You ever gonna go to sleep? All you’ve been doing is pacing. I’ve practically memorized it now!”
No response.
“Mr. Todd. Are you even listening to me? It’s like you block out the world when you start up your pacing. Only heaven knows when you sleep!”
Still no response.
“Sweeney.”
Finally he seemed to notice her. His coal like eyes staring into her. His steps halting. It was like the atmosphere changed. A sense of uneasiness settled on Mrs. Lovett.
“Mr. T, dear. You really should try going to sleep. Lay in bed.”
or
Mrs. Lovett is done with Sweeney’s pacing and brooding and makes a point to put a stop to it, even if it’s just for one night.
