  Summary

  The door to his bedroom suddenly felt miles away. Mike walked along a fence line until there was no path. Then just kept going until he was in the desert. No lights except the party at a distance. The stars were glowing in a way that made everything feel so fucking small. Mike was looking at the ground so he didn’t notice.

  He sat on a rock that was the start of a hillside, maybe an entire mountain, it was too dark to tell.

  ‘What the fuck.’ He thought.

  He really had no idea how this would go, but this? Barely even 2 sentences exchanged? Fuck he would have rather Will scream at him in front of everyone. Tell him how fucked up it was that Mike never reached out. After Will came out. After he told Will he was still his best friend. After his sister died.

  ‘Tell me, tell me Will that you’re mad at me. Tell me that’s why you never called again so I have something concrete to blame it on.’

  But the nothingness? Like they just barely knew each other. That was so much worse.
