Summary
Tucker is surrounded by ghosts and geniuses, and he has never felt more out of place. He knows he’s nothing special. He knows it with the same certainty with which he knows how to build semiconductors and rewire nanobots. Yet somehow, despite his acute averageness, he’s been chosen for an exclusive research position with the GIW, so he’s packed up the pitiful little life he had in Cambridge to head to Amity Park and work with the world famous Danny and Jazz Fenton.
For the first time in a long time, Tucker is letting himself really, truly want something without letting fear or embarrassment hold him back. In fact, he wants several somethings. He wants to help shut down the portal at FentonWorks. He wants to build a reputation for himself. He wants to become friends with Danny and Sam, or maybe even become more than just friends.
But Tucker can’t have anything he wants if Danny continues to keep secrets.

Summary
His fingertips just barely brush against Danny as he places the final piece of the armor around Danny’s forearm. There’s a spark that skitters across the surface of Tucker’s skin where they made contact, and for a moment he thinks it’s just in his head, the same sort of electricity he always feels whenever he gets too close to Danny. But as he catches the incremental shift in Danny’s expression as he winces, he realizes the spark was very real.
Or: Maybe the spark that Tucker has been feeling between him and Danny isn't as one sided as he previously thought.

For just a moment, Danny toys with the idea of telling Sam the truth. He always does, in situations like this. He hates lying to Sam, hates the guilty squeeze of his stomach and the pulsing fear of getting caught. In the years since his accident, Danny’s relationship with the truth has become fluid, at best. At worst, it feels like he’s being held hostage by his own lies. He’s in too deep now. How would he even begin to undo his web of deceit?

Summary
Danny will never know, and it’s fine. It’s good. Healthy, even. What he doesn’t know can’t hurt him. Danny protects everyone else, so someone needs to protect Danny, even if that means protecting Danny from the truth. Jazz repeats this mantra to herself with every item she adds to her list of secrets. She reminds herself that she is doing what is best for him as she looks Danny in the eyes and chokes out chalky, bitter lies that stick to the back of her throat.
Guilt fills Jazz’s lungs with murky sludge until it’s hard to breathe, and she has nightmares about bloodied dog carcasses and bursting stitches and rows of teeth in an overextended jaw, but it’s fine. She’s fine. Danny will be fine. He doesn’t need to know.
