Summary
Tommy stared down at the picture and didn’t move an inch as he tried to process what he was seeing.
It was of Evan, his pale skin glistening with sweat as he smiled, holding the door open for someone outside of his apartment building.
Mason put down another picture and then another, making the cold shock in Tommy’s veins turn brittle with each one being presented to him. It was obvious from the photographs that Evan hadn’t known his picture was being taken. It had to have been captured with a long lens of some kind. Evan, at his apartment building. Evan, by his Jeep outside of the grocery store. Evan, in his uniform, taking out the trash at the back of the firehouse, alone and surrounded by shadows.
“I really wished you’d said yes, man.” Mason leaned back and tipped the picture up to stare at him. “Cute kid. Got that birthmark thing? He’s a firefighter too? Calls himself Buck, right? Let’s take this somewhere else, huh? You can tell me all about him.”
An old army buddy of Tommy’s comes into town with a proposition. When Tommy refuses, he learns that Evan Buckley is a pretty good tool for persuasion.

Summary
"Is someone going to tell me what's going on?" Buck wonders. The others look to Eddie, who rolls his eyes at having been summarily chosen to be the spokesperson.
"In my defense," Eddie begins. "I did tell them you would probably hate this."
"You're such a chicken," Ravi groans. "Buck, you're still moping. Either call Tommy or…"
Buck raises an eyebrow as Ravi trails off. Apparently, even he is reluctant to say what the 'or' is. So it must be really bad.
"Or," Hen picks up, looking hesitant but resolute about it. "We put your name down for a queer speed dating event on Thursday night."
"No thank you," Buck says instantly, because absolutely not.
Or: Buck goes to the event and a certain someone shows up.

Summary
The bell over the door chimed again, and Buck looked up automatically.
Then, he froze, his jaw going slack for a second.
The man who had entered the shop wore a firefighter's uniform (the same one he'd wear soon!), and had biceps the size of Buck's entire head and the broadest chest Buck had ever seen. His eyes were baby blue (Buck could swear they sparkled like diamonds!) and his light brown hair was slightly curly at the top.
Buck had to keep himself from salivating.
No thirsting over patrons was a basic rule of customer service.
He could control himself.
Hopefully.

Buck works as a barista at a small café to support himself through the fire academy. One particular regular quickly becomes more than just a customer to him.
