WOW, this is good. Terrifically brought characters to life (and not just by resurrecting Dominic, lol).
Saw Banshees in the theater last year, and it bruised my heart a bit (in the best way). So it was very random that I even ended up in the ao3 tag all this time later, but I’m so glad I did. This fic scratched such an itch.

Lan Wangji gives him a tolerant look that makes Jin Ling want to scream. “Wei Ying has been through much. He’s had to shoulder so much responsibility for so long. He deserves a chance to enjoy his freedom and see the world. He’s earned at least that much.”
It’s a sweet sentiment, but really just confirms Jin Ling’s suspicions. Lan Wangji is an idiot. “What are you talking about? Uncle Ying loves responsibility!”
Lan Wangji raises an eyebrow and Jiang Cheng snorts.
Jin Ling changes his mind. They’re both idiots.

I love Madam Lan fics! I’m also very into stories where she runs into Wei Wuxian, and variations on their subsequent rapport.
Something also real good about Liu Meihui having crossed paths with Cangse Sanren in the past and thinking, “Damn, if this thing took her out, I don’t know how the hell I’m supposed to manage,” while risking her life nonetheless to do what she can for this sad little kid she found the day before.
