Summary
Hermione Granger has survived a war, a decade of public service, and Ron Weasley’s snoring, but nothing prepares her for mutually deciding not to get married.
Newly single and lightly spiralling, Hermione buries herself in her job at the DMLE. Unfortunately for her (and fortunately for readers), her new partner is Draco Malfoy: back from ten years with MACUSA and carrying more secrets than the Room of Requirement.
Draco returns to England intending to take up the family mantle, avoid disaster, and catch a killer, not necessarily in that order. Instead, he ends up dodging an American dark wizard and falling catastrophically in love. He also might be refusing to wash a shirt she once borrowed. It’s tragic.
Meanwhile, Ron discovers post-breakup freedom pairs unexpectedly well with Pansy Parkinson, who does not do feelings (but she does do Ron).
Theo Nott and Ginny Weasley attempt to fix everyone, resulting in cocktails, chaos, and at least one incident no one is legally permitted to mention.
As the case turns deadlier and the feelings messier, Hermione and Draco find themselves tangled in far more than old history.
