He finds himself less out of place than Jongho is. Jongho, still looking mostly like he did a few days ago, now clad in a hospital gown under the pristine white sheets instead of his favorite hoodies and smelling faintly of disinfectant instead of his fresh cologne. It has only been a few weeks since Jongho showed up at Yeosang's door to sneak him a slice of his birthday cake. Yeosang had popped a bottle from Seonghwa's untouched collection for a modest celebration. Jongho had rummaged through his fridge and, for the umpteenth time, urged him to expand his palate beyond the trashy underground market synthetic hemoglobin.
"I bet even hospital food tastes better," comments Jongho as he absentmindedly stirred his porridge, nose wrinkled, "and that says a lot."
Jongho and Yeosang are on opposing ends of mortality.

Summary
There’s power in the quiet reassurances Yi Sang offers, even if he thinks he can never find the right words to say. Those softly-spoken stanzas have the strength to freeze the flood of self-deprecating thoughts in their tracks, even if it’s only for a while. And — to see that unassuming kindness extended to you so easily, just like that… makes you wonder. Makes you think.
(Even if there’s a crick in your neck from sleeping at an awkward angle. Even if your treacherous heart trembles, just this once, it flutters with a fragile, fledgling hope.)
