Summary
When Buck is left behind during a date at an Italian restaurant, he starts to confront the idea that maybe Tommy isn’t who he wanted to be on a date with after all. At the very least it doesn’t seem to bother him all that much that a second date isn't likely to happen. What is bothering him, however, is why he would lie to Eddie, of all people, about it.
After some words of advice from his friends, a practice date at a bachelor party, a few too many visits to the hospital, and some emotionally stressful weeks, Buck starts to understand. And while Buck comes to an understanding about his relationship with Eddie, Eddie has a few revelations of his own.*
A season 7 reimagining from episode 5 onwards: exploring what might have happened if Buck had never talked to Tommy after their first date and if their friends had been even more obvious with their observations of the whole Buck and Eddie thing. However, Buck and Eddie are still Buck and Eddie, so they are very oblivious and stay in denial for a long time.

Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.
(or, gerrard messes with the team's schedules and eddie 'i just drove my son to flee the state' diaz is the only option to watch mara and jee-yun after school on tuesdays, which, shouldn't be a problem at all, right?)
