“Answer something for me now,” Din said. He slipped two fingers under Cobb's low-slung belt and tugged him forward. Untucked the front of his shirt, slid his hand up the back to feel the dip of Cobb's spine. “Does it bother you… that I'm leaving tomorrow?”
Cobb brought one hand up to the side of Din’s neck, grip firm and warm and skin-seeking. Din wanted to flinch, he should, but he pulled Cobb closer, didn’t he? At a single graze of Cobb’s thumb along his jaw, Din’s nerves lit up. He wanted this, desired Cobb, and he couldn’t really deny it any longer—had already choked off that part of himself that needed to remain unknown. Only for tonight.
“No.” The hush of Cobb's voice pulled at the edges of that void within Din again, spinning sutures to close it up. “Not lookin’ for strings, don't worry.”
There were many things Cobb had told Din over the past few days, which Din suspected of being embellishments or recollection made prettier for an altruistic stranger's benefit. But this might've been the first time Din was sure Cobb was outright lying to him.

Summary
As he swung his bat, he could feel the sweat gathering between his shoulder blades, but more than that. From his peripherals, he saw the shape of someone behind him, and when he turned to look, he nearly swore. Much to this surprise, Din was there at the fence. He stood there, silent and staring as Cobb took a step back and let a pitch pass him by.
“Been here long?” Cobb asks.
Din’s eyes roved over Cobb’s chest before he said, “No. Just happened to be walking by.”
Cobb stepped back in line for the pitching machine and took a swing.
