She made a sharp cutting motion with her hand and a gash opened on my cheek. Blood trickled down, hot and wet. “Guard your tongue.”
I’d much rather you guard my tongue. Bad thing to say out loud. The previous comment had already been a rare slipup. I was quiet because I didn’t like to talk to people, yes, but also because I was too sassy for my own good sometimes.
Ravenna took a deep breath and I could watch how she settled her temper. “Now, you will come with me”-
“No.”
“No?”
“No. As I said your majesty. I’m not joining the feast tonight.”
