“Oh, always,” Glinda argues, hand cupping Liir’s soft, round cheek. He’s so precisely and exactly like Elphaba. “Always, always.”

“If only someone paid attention to their surroundings while they were flying around on that dirty old thing.” Glinda gestures with a curled lip towards Elphaba’s broom, and Elphaba huffs in irritation.
“Excuse me for not considering all the other flying people out there,” Elphaba drolls, then glances around. They’re in some sort of contraption—a metal platform encased in a shiny, shifting transparent sphere—hovering steady in the fog. “What the hell even is this thing?”
“My bubble,” Glinda announces with a proud lift of her chin.

“Oh. Oz,” Galinda breathes, taking a step forward. “You’re me. Future me.” Grass crunches under her feet. “Do you have any advice for the you of eleven years ago?”
“I will give you only one piece of advice. Any more, and I’m afraid of what might happen,” Glinda tells her, and Galinda sits up straighter, rapt. Glinda’s face hardens, steels. She scowls into the darkness of the woods around them.
“Stay away from Elphaba Thropp.”
Or: On the night of her nineteenth birthday, Galinda bungles a spell and winds up in touch with an older version of herself. Glinda the Good leaves her with a single piece of advice. Galinda has some trouble taking it.

Oz, what is she doing? She’s meant to be hunting vampires, not a preppy, popular blonde. But there is Galinda, and Elphaba's eyes keep seeking her out against her will. She has butterfly clips of pink and orange pinning her hair back from her face. She's speaking with tall man she doesn't seem to know—Galinda has to crane her neck up a bit to meet his eyes. Dark hair. Elphaba can’t make out his face, but what she can make out—the suit jacket; the grass stain on his shoulder.
Elphaba can’t say for certain that he’s the vampire. But to say that he’s a vampire seems like a pretty safe bet.
Well. Maybe watching out for Galinda is the right move after all.

Carol feels the confusion slip onto her face. Nervousness creeps up her spine again. “Me?”
“I know everything that anybody has ever thought about you, Carol. Every memory. Every feeling. Helen. Your ex-girlfriends. Your dentist. It’s like I have a Carol encyclopedia in my head.”
Carol had thought that she was done experiencing fresh horrors. What a nightmare it is to realize that she is not. “Oh, god.” She says.
“Oh, god,” Zosia agrees.
After they manage to break Zosia free of the hive, Zosia and Carol try to navigate the field of landmines that is their relationship.
